Writing as Truth as Desire aims to explore and bring to light the diversity, the complexities and the incompleteness of truth, as a methodology for writing rooted in the recognition of this which is alive in the present moment, which  becomes also a permission slip for the elusive desire and a remedy for healing from oppressive, absolute truths.

We invite writers, artists, and everyone else who wants to explore truth as desire (as a story, as trauma, as hope, as pleasure, as dream...) to participate in a three hour writing and reading experience.

What to expect?

  • A short introduction to auto-fictional writing
  • Participate in conversations about how texts attempt to navigate the complex nature of truth (with samples of favourite texts shared and read by the participants and by Birds)
  • To participate in short writing sessions and share your writings with the group
  • To participate in short sensory exercises and write and share your experience
  • The texts created during the writing lab will be documented and published with permission of the author on the website of Clublokaal. Have a look at the documentation of last year's writing lab here.

About Birds Without Gender

Birds Without Gender is a healer, writer, and performance artist based in Rotterdam. 

Their work focuses on intimacy and the complexity of the human condition. 

They write auto-fiction, poetry, and text for performance.
