Clublokaal welcomes three new board members who will dedicate themselves to the further development of the organisation in the coming years. (from left toright) Joyce Wijnen (treasurer), Rikst Westra (board member) and Maurice Spapens (chair), bring with them administrative experience, cultural engagement and plenty of energy, and are set to get to work with great enthusiasm.
Maurice Spapens, a graduate of the St. Joost Academy of Art as a fashion designer, has been working for over 30 years as a (community) artist under the name Maurice Spapens Dutch Design. He is the initiator of various socio-cultural activities centred on connection. In addition, he has been politically active for the SP for over 20 years; previously as a councillor in the municipality of Breda and currently as a member of the Provincial Council for the province of North Brabant. With Maurice as chair, Clublokaal looks forward to a new phase of deepening engagement and connection.
Joyce Wijnen, a graduate of Tilburg University with a degree in Marketing Organisation & Management, is dedicated to supporting organisations that want to make a visible and meaningful difference in people’s lives. What motivates her most is working on brands and places that matter, strengthening cities and communities, creating equal opportunities, and contributing to a more inclusive and future-proof society. With her many years of experience as Brand Marketing Manager at Breda Marketing, Joyce knows better than anyone how (cultural) places take on meaning for a city and its residents. She will take on the role of treasurer in the new board.
Rikst Westra, a graduate of the St. Joost Academy of Art as a graphic designer, works as a freelance designer and creative producer. She also works at CARADT (Centre of Applied Research for Art, Design and Technology), where, as a researcher, she focuses on collective innovation, inclusivity and creative collaboration around societal transitions. With her background, she brings a strong substantive and critical perspective to Clublokaal. She will join the board as a general board member.
The core team is delighted to welcome the new board members and has every confidence in their abilities. The board is also looking forward to continuing to build the future of Clublokaal together with partners, creators, visitors and stakeholders.
Clublokaal would like to thank the departing board members: Joram Kraaijeveld and Marilyn Jongenelen. Over the past two years, Joram has been closely involved in the development of Clublokaal. With his keen insight, organisational skills and broad knowledge of the art world, he has made a significant contribution to Clublokaal’s direction and growth. Over the past few years, Marilyn has helped build a solid foundation for Clublokaal with great care and dedication. Her commitment, precision and trust were invaluable during a period in which the organisation was undergoing rapid development. The Clublokaal team looks back on a wonderful collaboration with both board members and bids them farewell with a touch of sadness. Clublokaal wishes Joram and Marilyn every success in their future endeavours.
